PCF and C-Suite Salary Benchmarks in Irish FinTech: The 2026 Guide

  • 3 min read

One of the most common mistakes boards and compensation committees make when approaching a senior hire in Irish FinTech is treating salary data as a target rather than a floor. The figures below represent current market rates for professionals already in post. They are the baseline. In a structurally constrained talent pool, the expectation of a meaningful improvement on what the candidate currently earns is a given, not a point of negotiation.

These benchmarks are drawn from the Nexus Search Irish FinTech Talent Intelligence Report 2026, compiled from live market intelligence gathered through Nexus Search's executive search practice, augmented by trusted industry data sources.

Governance and Regulatory Roles

These are the most constrained talent pools in the Irish market. Salary ranges reflect that pressure directly.

Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) Range: €170,000 to €220,000. Persistent upward pressure in EMI and CASP entities. Boards approaching CCO searches with an offer calibrated to what the candidate is already earning will not convert the hire.

Head of Compliance (PCF-12) Range: €120,000 to €180,000. The most constrained talent pool in the Irish FinTech market. PCF-12 recruitment in Ireland is intensely competitive, with demand driven by both new authorisations and the CBI's 2026 supervisory priorities.

Chief Risk Officer (large institution) Range: €150,000 to €300,000. DORA credentials command the strongest premiums. The combination of PCF-14 regulatory seniority and genuine digital operational resilience expertise is rare, and the market is pricing that scarcity accurately.

CRO (small to mid-size FinTech) Range: €100,000 to €225,000. Digital risk combined with PCF-14 seniority is an uncommon pairing. Competition from UK and European markets for these profiles is increasing.

MLRO (PCF-52) Range: €120,000 to €180,000. MLRO salary levels in Ireland are rising with demand. AMLA preparation and the CBI's intensified financial crime focus will push this scarcity further through 2026.

Executive Leadership Roles

CEO / MD (FinTech) Base: €150,000 to €220,000. Equity participation of 10 to 25 per cent annually is typical. Total compensation can reach investment management sector parity. Sourcing FinTech CEOs with direct CBI authorisation experience remains one of the hardest searches in the market.

CFO (FinTech) Base: €120,000 to €160,000. Equity of 5 to 10 per cent is standard. Investment management sector equivalent sits at €150,000 to €220,000, reflecting the additional complexity of the AUM revenue model.

CFO (Funds / Investment Management) Range: €150,000 to €220,000. The premium reflects the revenue model complexity of the sector.

COO Range: €140,000 to €300,000. DORA is expanding the scope of this role materially, and the market is adjusting.

Technology and Digital Roles

CTO Base: €120,000 to €200,000. Equity of 7 to 15 per cent. CTO supply has improved relative to the 2022 and 2023 peak, meaning boards have more room to negotiate in this function.

CISO Base: €110,000 to €160,000 plus. Contract rates of €800 to €1,500 per day. DORA has significantly elevated the profile and complexity of this role. A CISO who can lead DORA implementation and hold the regulatory conversation at board level commands a materially different package from one who cannot.

Board and Non-Executive Roles

INED (FinTech) Range: €35,000 to €70,000 per annum. Daily rates of €3,500 to €8,000 depending on entity complexity. ESG and digital credentials are the most sought-after skills for new INED appointments.

INED (Funds / Investment Management) Range: €50,000 to €90,000 per annum.

Skill Set Premiums

These premiums are additive to the functional ranges above and reflect genuine scarcity in the market.

AI and machine learning governance: +€20,000 to €40,000. Growing premium with a three to five year window before the market catches up.

Sustainable finance implementation: +€20,000 to €50,000. CSRD is the driver. This premium will erode as the talent pool upskills.

Real-time payments expertise: +€15,000 to €30,000. Sustained by continuing infrastructure investment.

Blockchain and tokenisation: +€15,000 to €35,000. Persistent. Limited experience exists in the Irish market.

DORA / operational resilience: +€20,000 to €30,000. Premium is eroding into 2027 as expertise spreads. Act now if you need this profile.

A Note on Total Package Design

Salary is not the only factor, particularly when attracting senior international executives into PCF-designated roles. Cost of living, housing costs, and personal tax burden in Ireland are structural headwinds that boards need to build into how they design packages. The firms winning at international senior talent attraction are structuring offers around total take-home value, not gross salary. Those benchmarking to gross alone are losing candidates at the offer stage.
